    Captain Profile: Sam Wang

Are you good at math? More over, do you even like math? Most people would answer no, some for decidedly than others. It isn’t so for Math Team Captain Sam Wang. The team consists of students with “passion for math” and prodigious skill. After looking over applications and test scores, Sam Wong selects his team. A senior in Math Statistics, Sam enjoys math “because it’s widely applicable and it trains my brain and keeps it sharp.” The team is advised by Ms. King and meets in P2 every Wednesday after school for an hour and a half. At meetings, the team practice problems, breaking into groups and teach each other mathematic material. The team also researches the Bay League, which they participate. Last year, the team placed 3rd in the competition. The team also won 1st place 2 years ago. The Team hopes to score at this Bay Math League; one week prior from the competition, members will tryout for the team’s competitors. The competition itself is a grueling 25 questioned, ten minute test. The competition is divided into separate subjects and for different grade levels. Sam Wang commented that he appreciates the team and “the level of thinking math requires.” Sam’s dedication to the team and effort toward the competitions, he’s favorite part of the team is the “responsibilities and power of being captain.” And responsibilities he does take; he is now in AP Government and AP English 12, balancing these with his team captaincy.

    EDIT 3

Are you good at math? Moreover, do you even like math? Most people would answer no, some more pronounced than others. It isn’t so for Math Team Captain [no capitalization] Sam Wang. The team consists of students with a “passion for math” and prodigious skill. Sam Wong had helped pick his team, looking over applications and testing scores. A senior in Statistics, Sam enjoys math “because it’s widely applicable and it trains my brain and keeps it sharp.” The team is advised by Ms. King and meets in P2 [P-2] every Wednesday after school for an hour and a half. At meetings, the team practices problems, breaking into groups and teaching each other mathematic material. The team also prepares for the Bay League, which they participate in each year. Last year, the team placed 3rd in the competition. The team also [vary your sentence beginnings, you used this in the previous sentence] won 1st place 2 [two] years ago. The Team hopes to score at this Bay Math League; one week prior from the competition, members will tryout [try out] for the team’s competitors. [rephrase, it's confusing] The competition itself is a grueling 25 question, ten minute test. The competition [again, use varied sentence beginnings] is divided into separate subjects and different [delete] grade levels. Sam Wang commented that he appreciates the team and “the level of thinking math requires.” Along Sam’s dedication to the team and effort toward the competitions, his favorite part of the team is the “responsibilities and power of being captain.” And responsibilities he does take; [dependent clause, rewrite] he is also in AP Government and AP English, balancing these with his team captaincy.
