    Macie de Castro

Post  phuynh on Fri Dec 04, 2009 2:41 am

One of the most astonishing members of the music and dance teams at AHS is the one and only— Macie de Castro. As president of New Spirit and a senior juggling AP classes, it’s a wonder how she’s even able to sleep! Junior Megan Truong knows that no matter how many hours of sleep Macie gets, she will always be “very kind, organized, caring, [and of course] funny”. Being prepared and all, senior Lisa Liu noted that “Macie is always on task doing what’s best for us by organizing her highest priorities to make [New Spirit] look good.”
When it comes down to New Spirit, Macie becomes very professional and switches gears. Junior Amanda Chen is aware that Macie “knows when to be a friend and when to get things done.” Even with just friends he ill help them in their time of need. Many can agree that Macie is a natural-born leader.
As president, Macie is always helping others, whether it’s improving dance techniques or just offering advice. At each performance, Macie is always tthere in the back round making sure that all the dancers of New Spirt have their necessary materials— such as their outfits, makeup, shoes, and paperwork—ready.

Sorry its short,I'm going to add more tsuff. Its just that she hasn't replied yet and all this is from information of what I got from other New Spirit members

As for being prepared, senior Lisa Liu noted that “Macie is always on task doing what’s best for us by organizing her highest priorities to make [New Spirit] look good”. Macie’s tip to being organized—use “the agenda the school give[s]us, [they’re] really helpful!”
When it comes down to New Spirit, Macie becomes very professional and switches gears to a more appropriate one. Junior Amanda Chen is aware that Macie “knows when to be a friend and when to get things done”. Even with just friends she will help them in their time of need. Many can and will agree that Macie is a natural-born leader. Megan knows that “when it comes to learning [the] music and keeping everything up to date” Macie can get strict, only because she wants the best for the girls of New Spirit. To keep herself in line, Macie constantly asks herself “How would I want to be lead?” This helps her see herself through the eyes of the sophomores, juniors, and seniors she leads. Macie sees everyday as “a new opportunity ... to learn how to be a better leader”.
As president, Macie is always helping others, whether it’s improving dance techniques or just offering advice. At each performance, Macie is always there in the background making sure that all the dancers of New Spirit have their necessary materials— such as their outfits, makeup, shoes, and paperwork—ready. Just like the previous New Spirit presidents, Macie was given the task to create a one-or-a-kind design for the New Spirit dancers. These exquisite outfits are bright pink halters paired with some chandelier earrings chosen by Macie as well. The members of New Spirit wear these dresses at every single event where they perform. These events could have never happened if it wasn’t for Macie, who has to schedule them and make sure that the girls are on their best behaviors. Of course, Macie is helped by her fellow vice president, senior Hana Rudolph. Macie feels that Hana is always there whenever she feels overwhelmed and needs to take the load off.
One person that really appreciates Macie is New Spirit advisor, Mr. Rolland Maxson. Whenever he is busy with the other performing arts groups such as Chanteurs, Macie steps in and helps teach the girls music. Macie has had Mr. Maxson since freshman year, so she gotten close to him and sees him as her grandpa.
Even though it seems that Macie has a lot on her plate, she knows that it is all worth it. Being in New Sprit, Macie has met some great friends and some have even become her best buddies. Even through all the up’s and down’s, Macie has “learned to love [them] with all [her] heart, through all of [their] trials”. Each year there is a new batch of girls and they become sister through everything they’ve been through, together. When asked about New Spirit, Macie will always say “It gets hard sometimes, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world!”
