Pep Squad :)

“A-R-C-A-D-I-A. Arcadia; hooray! A-P-A-C-H-E-S. Apaches, the best!” Standing on red and yellow cubes, with their pom-poms, flags, and spirit in their hands, they rally up our school spirit, cheering and urging AHS sport teams to continue on. Who are they? They’re the undoubtedly the most spirited kids on campus- they’re the Pep Squad.

However, now that football season is over, the red and yellow cubes packed away, what does Pep Squad do? With all that school spirit bubbling like a fountain, they simply can’t sit around; they continue cheering-cheering for the winter and spring sports teams.

Once football season comes to a close, Pep Squad moves right into cheering for our talented basketball team, and preparing for future rallies, assemblies, and most importantly, competitions. This year, Pep Flags will have the honor of competing at cheer competitions such as the United Spirit Association Regional Competitions- USA regional for short; and SHARP spirit competitions. They group will be competing against schools such as Temple City, San Pedro, Glendora, Morse, and top competitor, Channel Island.

First stop on Pep Flag’s long list of competitions is the USA regional, which will be held on Jan. 24, at Orange High school. The competition will kick-start the season, and with a tally of at least 80 out of 100 points, Pep Flags will be able to move onto the USA nationals level, and compete with some of the nation’s top Pep Flags teams.

However, Pep Flags that aren’t the only ones enthusiastic about the second semester, Song and Cheer show their enthusiasm as they practice their rallies and assemblies. Sadly, due to the fact that Song and Cheer is mostly composed of underclassmen this year, the two groups won’t be competing this year. Nonetheless, the groups are still practicing as hard as Pep Flags, if not, harder. The groups practice daily after school, perfecting and composing choreography that they each write themselves. After all, who better to bring school spirit than the Pep Squad?
