Mr. England Profile Empty Mr. England Profile

Mr. Rick England- orchestra director extraordinaire, a man with a keen ear for excellence, and a musical educator dedicated to assisting his students and maintaining Arcadia’s tradition of excellence. With such a jolly personality, there’s without a doubt that he resembles Santa Claus—a musically-inclined Santa Claus, that is. He gives them the motivation to learn new pieces in a way that broadens their musical spectrum while checking that his students develop into better musicians, both individually and as a group. Mr. England spreads his glee to his Orchestra 1 and 3 students through his gentle, patient nature.

By creating such a positive atmosphere in the orchestra room for his students, “his passion for music, and especially his passion in teaching us, has really inspired [his students] to further embrace music and to develop a strong interest for it as well,” said senior Carpus Tin. His great sense of humor adds a unique touch to the orchestral aurora within the room. Even if Mr. England isn’t in his happiest mood, he puts that problem aside because his students are his number one priority. “He pushes us to work even harder, to practice even more, until we reach that state of near perfection. Once we practice enough to hit those thirty-second note runs every time, or to pinpoint that high E on the spot, that is when you'll really get a taste of accomplishment,” Carpus added.

One asset that makes Mr. England a superb orchestral director is his ability to play the piano alongside with his students. Junior Alan Zhu said that “Mr. England also composes music, which is not common among all conductors. He’s a beast at the piano and keyboard.” Composing music for his students to play forms a whole new level of a challenge because he introduces an assortment of methods to help them learn their music. Mr. England teaches his students so much more than just playing notes, but to pay attention to the historical and theoretical aspects as well.

**I will add more info about him when I recieve it
