    Tips for Finals

Frustrated with studying for your finals? Here are some tips to help you get that final A.

    Studying
For the finals, there is no substitute to studying. When studying, it is important to be conclusive, and remember that it is just a review unless there is something you don’t understand. Try memorizing the title of chapters and recalling what that chapter encompasses. With a few days away from the finals, try to relax and remember that there is not much new material that you can teach yourself but it’s just how much you already know that you are trying to fortify.

    Keep a good sleeping schedule
Sleeping is often a problem for busy students, and with finals, many students frantically cram for the test and wake up the next day sluggish and forgetful. Getting a good night’s sleep is essential for being prepared and doing your best on the semester final. However, it has been a popular custom for students to stay up late each night, burning the midnight oil, whether or not it is necessary, and so making it a custom to wake the next day tired. In anticipation for the final exam, it would be the in your best interest to fix your sleeping schedule, planning it out so that you get at least nine hours of sleep a night and waking up early comfortably enough to do pay attention in your first period.

    Eating right
As a whole, eating is the one way you get any reliable source of energy. In preparation for the finals, be sure to fill your dinner the day before with carbohydrates (wheat, rice, and other stable food) like pasta. The breakfast on the day of should be relatively light but loaded with protein (eggs, beans, or tofu). It would also be helpful to bring something sweet to munch on throughout your school day, the sugar breaks down quickly, going right into your blood stream, making it off easy use for your mind and body.

    Exercise
Exercising before the test may also help boast your score and help you focus. When exercising, endorphin is produced in your brain. It helps regulate pain, stress, and even hunger. By doing some basic exercise, you can calm yourself and think with a positive approach. The same affect is seen in opium, though this isn’t recommended. [I don’t know how sensitive a topic this is, but it’s just a joke.]

When taking the semester finals, it’s imperative to keep a cool head throughout. The final will test how well you retain information for the whole semester, not how long you studied the previous night. With this in mind and these tips, you’re sure to do your best and earn the A you deserve.

Academics isn't running this article because Campus Focus is doing it instead so don't bother copy-editing it.
