The early chirping of the birds and gradual rise of temperature marks the start of a new semester and the soon arrival of spring. It’s already halfway through the school year and only one more semester to go! Tired of schoolwork and itching for a break? Here are a few games to look out for in February and March:

Bioshock 2: XBox 360, PC, PS3
Considered one of the bigger games anticipated for early 2010, Bioshock 2 is a sequel to it's first installment, Bioshock. Bioshock 2 is a survival horror First Person Shooter (FPS) set during the 1970s in the underwater city of Rapture in an alternative history. Many fans of Bioshock are skeptical that Bioshock 2 may not be as promising as the original, since writer Ken Levine was not on the developing team. But recent reviews dispel this idea as many magazines have rated it highly. The story starts off ten years after the end of it's predecessor, but instead of the previous main character, you are now embodied in the the form of a prototype of a "Big Daddy." The main point of the game is to defeat Sofia Lamb, the leader of Rapture, who seeks the destruction of her dystopian city. One of the differences from Bioshock 2 to the first game is the ability to use Plasmids, which help unlock special attacks such as releasing fire or ice from your hands to destroy an enemy. Another is the experience of roaming outside the city limits and swimming underwater. This game hit shelves on Febuary 9th.

All you Pokemon fans, get ready to battle! HeartGold and SoulSilver are DS remakes of the original GameBoy Gold and Silver editions. But just because HG/SS is a remake does not mean it is practically the same. You can expect many differences between the versions. For example, like Pikachu in Pokemon Yellow, every Pokemon you have will be able to follow you around (physically). You will also be able to trade Pokemon from Platinum, Pearl, or Diamond. One of the most innovative parts of this release is the addition of a peripheral called the Pokewalker. This device is a pedometer that increases the experience and happiness of a Pokemon that can be transferred from the DS game. You can also battle other Pokemon, level up, and unlock mini-games. So now, without carrying your DS, you can take your favorite Pokemon wherever you’re headed!

The decision is yours. Play the good cops enforcing city rules and catching the criminals? Or join forces with other members to wreak havoc among the streets? In All Points Bulletin (or APB for short), a multiplayer online game, you get to choose your side. Having the same designer as Grand Theft Auto and Crackdown, APB allows players to roam freely in a modern city. This game features tons of customization options for characters, clothing, weapons, and vehicles. In this fictional city, there is a constant fight between “Enforcement” and “Criminals” but both factions have a similar goal: to attain fame, fortune, and territory.

Since this game functions in real time, this system allows players to be consistently involved with other players and rarely are there situations pitching players against computers. Expected release date is in March.
