    Colleen Ju Empty Colleen Ju

Post  ChristinaZhou Wed Mar 10, 2010 11:32 pm

She’s been caught tapping her fingers to the beats of several songs countless times, and constantly keeps the pit crew of Varsity Percussion on task by watching them with her eagle eyes. She’s none other than the junior Colleen Ju, leader of Varsity Percussion’s Pit crew.
Despite what many believe, joining a team isn’t just fun, games, and a bag of chips. Being a part of a team requires dedication and hard work. Being a leader, requires much more. A team that doesn’t enjoy what it does is insipid and robotic, but a team that only has fun never improves. A leader must be able to allow their team to enjoy themselves while staying on task; and Colleen does just that. “I’m a bit of a stickler on people doing what they need to do,” Colleen admitted, “but its not always work, there’s a good balance of fun too.”
All the sweat, time, and tears shed from practices are never lost without a gain. As of Mar 9, the AHS Varsity Percussion was ranked third in the nation. [This may change before we go to press] Colleen has high hopes for this year’s Varsity show “Legend,” but is aiming even higher for next year. “This year, I just want to be better than last year,” said Colleen, “I’m so proud of the line this year, but I know that next year will be an even better, kick butt year. Hopefully, next year we’ll be in the top three at Dayton.”
Sadly, percussion isn’t the only thing Colleen needs to worry about. Juggling four AP classes, Girl Scouts, and percussion requires time management skills. In her free time, Colleen is usually seen at Paneria Bakery with her study buddy, junior Justine Lee. “I’ve killed my social life,” said Colleen, “During down time, I try to study and get work in. [And] instead of hanging out with friends to watch movies and such, I hang out with my friends to do homework.”
Although Paneria and percussion may keep her away from her family at times, Colleen refuses to be distant with her family. “I really love my family,” said Coleen, “and I love my sister, Aileen Ju. Some say I may be a bit overprotective of her, but I just want her to do well in what she does.” Freshman Aileen Ju “quote on how much Aileen loves her sister J” No relationship can be stronger than the bond that the two sisters share.
Strong leader, admirable sister, and hardworking student are only few of the many adjectives that can describe Colleen Ju. As a leader, she diligently keeps her fellow pit members on task while allowing them to enjoy themselves. As a student, she constantly prepares and studies for her advanced academic classes. And as an ideal sister, she looks out and watches over her younger sibling. A well-rounded student, Colleen certainly brings pride to the Arcadia name, like the many leaders before her.

I THINK ITS TOO LONG D:

She’s been caught tapping her fingers to the beats of several songs [to the beat of a song] countless times, and constantly keeps the pit crew of Varsity Percussion on task by watching them with her eagle eyes. [insert another sentence of what she does] She’s none other than the junior Colleen Ju, leader of Varsity Percussion’s Pit crew. [ermmm this intro is getting a little repetitive now... but its okay i guess (: ]
Despite what many may believe, joining a team isn’t just fun, games, and a bag of chips [nice (: ] . Being a part of a team requires dedication and hard work. And Being a leader, requires much [even] more. A team that doesn’t enjoy what it does is insipid and robotic, but a team that only has fun never improves. A leader must be able to allow their team to enjoy themselves while staying on task; and Colleen does just that. “I’m a bit of a stickler on people doing what they need to do,” Colleen admitted, “but its not always work, there’s a good balance of fun too.” [insert example]
[awk transition] All the sweat, time, and tears shed from [at] practices are never lost without a gain. As of Mar. 9, the AHS Varsity Percussion was ranked third in the nation. [This may change before we go to press] Colleen has high hopes for this year’s Varsity show “Legend,” but is aiming even higher for next year. “This year, I just want to be better than last year,” said Colleen, “I’m so proud of the line this year, but I know that next year will be an even better, kick-butt year. Hopefully, next year we’ll be in the top three at Dayton.”
Sadly, [delete sadly, insert But] percussion isn’t even the only thing Colleen needs to worry about.
Although Paneria and percussion may keep her away from her family at times, Colleen also refuses to be [grow] distant with her family amongst her hectic life. [a little bit awk... do ppl rlly care THAT much about her friends and family? condense two paragraphs into one, and try not to make it so awk...]
Strong leader, admirable sister, and hardworking student [what happened to friend?] are only few of the many adjectives that can describe Colleen Ju. As a leader, she diligently keeps her fellow pit members on task while allowing them to enjoy themselves. As a student, she constantly prepares and studies for her advanced academic classes. And as an ideal sister, she looks out and watches over her younger sibling. A well-rounded student, Colleen certainly brings pride to the Arcadia name, like the many leaders [kinda random? nothing to do with article] before her.

[actually, you've tied it pretty well with the conclusion. but still, focus more on percussion aspect]

She’s been caught tapping her fingers to the beats of several songs to the beat of a song countless times, and constantly keeps the pit crew of Varsity Percussion on task by watching them with her eagle eyes. She can lighten up any conversation, and has an uncanny ability to brighten any day. She’s none other than the junior Coleen Ju, leader of Varsity Percussion’s Pit crew.
Despite what many may believe, joining a team isn’t just fun, games, and a bag of chips. Being a part of a team requires dedication and hard work. And being a leader, requires even more. A leader must be able to allow their team to enjoy themselves while staying on task; and Coleen does just that. “I’m a bit of a stickler on people doing what they need to do,” Coleen admitted, “but its not always work, there’s a good balance of fun too.”

But percussion isn’t even the only thing Coleen needs to worry about. Juggling four AP classes, Girl Scouts, and Percussion requires time management skills. As a leader, she diligently keeps her fellow pit members on task while allowing them to enjoy themselves. As a student, she constantly prepares and studies for her advanced academic classes. And as an ideal friend, she creatively finds ways to tie in her social life with her academic life. A well-rounded student, Coleen certainly brings pride to the Arcadia name.
