    Bon Voyage: Prom 2010
Prom 2010: Fit for a Queen
    All Aboard the Queen Mary!

At the Sadie Hawkins Dance in March, ASB announced that this year's Prom will be held on the Queen Mary on the night of May 15. ASB members visited many potential locations and ultimately voted on the Queen Mary as the venue. Junior President Jon Ma feels "lucky to get such a great [location]," and anticipates that this year's Prom will be the best one ever for AHS.

Already, speculations of paranormal activity on the Queen Mary have been circulating amongst students, many of whom are excited at the prospect of having Prom on a ship this year. To soothe fears some students have of the ship being haunted, Junior Senator Winnie Hui affirmed that the ship is safe and nothing will happen to students at the dance. "It'll be very fun and memorable, so make sure you come!" she encouraged.

At the House of Representatives meeting on Apr. 14, Winnie announced that the theme for Prom 2010 is "Seaside Serenade." [waiting for details of theme hear]

In addition, this year, Senior Council will be hosting Mr. and Mrs. Arcadia, an event in which the Prom nominees can showcase their diverse talent as they would in a pageant competition. Junior Council is busy planning out every aspect of the dance to ensure an enjoyable night for everyone. Their responsibilities include designing invitations, selecting the color scheme, publicizing with gusto, planning the crowning ceremony for Prom Royalty, and so forth.

[still awaiting more details and information...more to come!]

Already, speculations of paranormal activity on the Queen Mary have been circulating amongst students, many of whom are excited at the prospect of having Prom on a ship this year. Known as "The Grey Ghost" during her years as a troopship in World War II, the Queen Mary is still commonly associated with ghosts to this day. While the ship is now permanently docked in Long Beach, CA as a historic hotel and musuem, there are still reported ghost-sightings from time to time, especially in areas where deaths occurred.

To allay student fears, Junior Senator Winnie Hui stated that the ship is safe and nothing will happen to students at the dance. "It'll be very fun and memorable, so make sure you come!" she encouraged.

In addition, this year, Senior Council will be hosting the first-ever Mr. and Miss Arcadia, a two-hour show that introduces the Prom Royalty nominees during Senior Seminars. Essentially, Mr. and Miss Arcadia will be the equivalent to Prom King and Queen--the only difference is that this new concept "gives the Senior class a chance to meet who they are voting for," Senior President Meghan Daly stated. Prom Royalty nominees will also partake in a talent show and a variety of amusing games. The male nominees are Tim Boehr, Alex Chang, Israel Coleman, Calvin Hang, and Garrett Tuck; the female nominees are Ashley Ethridge, Virginia Ma, Cora Ormseth, Virginia Ma, Nancy Pulciano, and Becky Yamane. Other nominees include Robel Abdella, Pallavi Bugga, Jamie Griswold, and Kiko Sunata, Pallavi Bugga. However, they will not be participating in Mr. and Miss Arcadia because they will be in Washington D.C. for Gov Team Nationals.

At the House of Representatives meeting on Apr. 14, Winnie announced that the theme for Prom 2010 is "Seaside Serenade," truly befitting this year's unique dance venue. Junior Council hopes to achieve a beach-like, romantic atmosphere with this theme, along with a color scheme of blue, silver, and white.

The female nominees are seniors Ashley Ethridge, Virginia Ma, Cora Ormseth, Virginia Ma, Nancy Pulciano, and Becky Yamane. Other nominees include seniors Robel Abdella, Pallavi Bugga, Jamie Griswold, and Kiko Sunata. These four nominees will not be participating in Mr. and Miss Arcadia because they will be in Washington D.C. for Gov Team Nationals. However, their names will still appear on the voting ballots.

Junior Council is busy planning out every aspect of the dance to ensure an enjoyable night for everyone. Their responsibilities include designing invitations, selecting the color scheme, publicizing with gusto, planning the crowning ceremony for Prom Royalty, and so forth.

Dance and Limo contracts are now available online on the ASB website.
