Hair Salon Robbery
When you hear robbery, don’t think you think of a calculated heist at a popular bank, with hostages and many armed men? People hardly think of a simple one-man robbery at a hair salon, but that’s just what happened on Apr. 29.
Around 7:20 p.m., at the Metro Style Hair Studio, a Latino man disguised himself through a variety of clothes like a hooded sweatshirt and a bandana. He brandished a silver, semi-automatic handgun and demanded money from the shop owner. He quickly fled the scene and, from reports, apparently left in a dark colored sedan.
Could this man have wanted some easy money or was it a hard decision forced by the recession crisis? Freshmen Allen Miao said, “Recession, because unemployment rates have risen and it has brought poverty and joblessness among many citizens of our country. For this reason, people are willing to take desperate measures in order to ensure their well being.”
Fortunately, throughout this incident, no one was hurt, but people could easily have. A desperate man with a loaded gun is just as dangerous as a time bomb. Hopefully, Arcadians will learn from this foolish act of desperation and aid the police in this search for the man and future searches.
