Arcadia Mammogram Center
Raphael Lu
One of the leading causes of death in women is breast cancer. Before, if an unlucky victim was the best breast cancer, they would have to travel outside of Arcadia to seek treatment. Now by the end of the month, the Arcadia Radiology Medical Group plans to widen their services and open a new section with mammogram service available. Even with the various cities near us with the same services freshman Anna Wang still thinks this is necessary because “since other cities around us have, arcadia definitely should.”
Having killed 40,820 women by 2006, breast cancer is a leading cause of death in women over the age of 40. Once a patient is thought to have cancer, she or even he will have to receive a mammogramy. This mammogramy is an X-ray of the breast and is one of the most effective ways of detecting cancer. Now with the expanded center, women are offered more comfort, safety, and accuracy during their screening process. Freshman Marian Eskander said that this will impact Arcadia “because it will help those people to hopefully find a cure.”
Especially in a time of state funding cuts, this center offers a great help to the women by consistently providing reliable services. Freshman Rochelle Lai likes this because “it shows the citizens that the city cares.”
