    Boys Volleyball Empty Boys Volleyball

Post  joyceliao Fri May 14, 2010 10:45 am

The boys of the Varsity Volleyball team are doing more than setting (and passing) volleyballs over a net, they're setting the standards. This year, they have won a majority of their games and played in numerous weekend competitions such as the OC Volleyball Championships and the Redondo Union Classic.
Being on the court involves more than great vertical jumps. To find success, one must have exceptional hand-eye coordination, fast reflexes, and the ability to communicate and work together with the five other people on the court.
In a game of volleyball, there are six people on the court at one time. The sport teaches the players the value of teammates, as it is against the rules for one person to hit the ball two times in a row.
To hone their skills, they practice daily, from sixth period to afterschool until ___. Not only are they constantly practicing setting, blocking, spiking, and passing among other things, they must work on their endurance. It takes a lot of energy to be able to get through one game! In order to develop their strength, they occasionally run laps around the track.
The Apaches have learned the importance of hard work and working together. They kicked off an amazing season on Mar. 3 with a win against Chatsworth High School, winning 3 to 1.
As the weeks passed, the Boys Varsity Volleyball team continued to dominate their games, beating both San Marcos High School and South Pasadena High School, both with scores of 3 to 2.
On Saturday Mar. 13, they hosted their own Arcadia Invitational Varsity Volleyball Tournament, where they placed _.
The following weekend, they traveled down to Edison High School to compete in the OC Volleyball championships, taking home _.
In the game against Hoover High School on Apr. 2, the Apaches didn't let down their guard for one moment, ultimately victorious with a score of 3 to Hoover's 0.
On Apr. 14, the boys suffered their first loss of the season against John Burroughs High School and lost 1 to 3.
Determined to turn it around, they then destroyed Glendale High School the next Friday 3 to 0.
Their only other loss of the season came from Crescenta Valley on Apr. 23. When they met again on May 6, the Apaches were looking for revenge and won 3 to 2.

This is it until I get some more quotes! Will try to update some more tonight and whenever the players respond

"The team is extremely loud and energetic. Everyone is extremely close," said junior Preston Lee.

When it came time to face the Falcons again on May 6, the Apaches were looking for revenge. The fact that the game was on not on home territory made the hard-earned 3 to 2 victory all the sweeter.
Even though their season has ended, they're not done yet. Some are already looking to the next year, the next season, the next opportunity they have to live up to the Apache name.
