Eddie’s responsibilities as captain of Science Bowl are to lead the team during practices, decide areas of focus, give research and reading assignments, and basically keep the team organized. As Science Olympiad captain, along with the other captain, Senior Pallavi Bugga, Eddie stated, “This year I will be leading the team in their events and keeping our learning on track for competition. I will also more closely monitor and work with the building team to ensure that the logistics of working with a large number of people on a certain project goes smoothly, with the necessary tools, materials, with a timeline set up for completing things by competition, and that we get innovative ideas for engineering solutions to the building events.” Sounds like a mouthful, but there are lighter moments of Science Olympiad. When asked about his favorite memory on the team, Eddie recalled, “We had a lot of fun playing Picture This (Pictionary with science words) and trying to figure out a way to draw words like ‘Radio galaxy’ quickly.”
Eddie’s aspirations for Science Bowl are to win 1st in Regionals and compete in Nationals. He felt that “Arcadia could do far better than it was doing based on its size and available talent.” For Science Olympiad, Eddie hopes to “help the members of [the] team have lots of fun and enjoy the experience of Science Olympiad!” How does Eddie balance all his responsibilities with school, family, and friends? I guess he really is Superman.
