Science Bowl Tournament Empty Science Bowl Tournament

Sorry, I don't have any facts yet because Eddie and Sam won't reply to my email..

On Sat. Feb. 20th, AHS's Science Bowl team attended (location) to compete in (name of tournament). Many other schools competed in (name) as well, consisting of (I'm guessing La Jolla, name of competition). However, Science Bowl came prepared since they have been practicing vigorously on (days of practices) with AHS's competing teams.
The day started off with (beginning of competition). (Short overview of tournament).
(End Results) (Arcadia's ranking as well as individual rankings)
According to Senior Sam Wang, "quote about how he feels about the end results." Senior Eddie Xue agrees/disagrees with Sam when he stated, "quote."
Science Bowl's ranking qualifies them for the (State) competition. Arcadia wishes them luck for their next competition.

After five years of falling just short of Nationals, AHS Science Bowl (SB) redeemed its first place title after dominating at Regionals. On Feb. 20, SB’s A Team consisting of Eddie Xue, Jason Jong, Alex Wang, Derek Chou, and Sam Zeng competed at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory among other top schools. One of its biggest competitors was Santa Monica High (SM). However, Eddie Xue believed “Santa Monica was noticeably weaker this year, [which is why] they only received 3rd.” Could it also be that AHS SB was noticeably stronger after all the after school practices? That must be the case considering how the day unfolded.
The competition started in a round robin format with six teams per bracket. Only the top two of each bracket competed in the double elimination round for first place. SB went undefeated in the round robin stage, winning against San Marino 224 to 64, Redondo Union 218 to 48, Calabasas 194 to 34, and Palos Verdes 174 to 70.
San Marino (SM) accompanied SB to the double elimination playoffs, but SB defeated SM 134 to 62. SB then faced University City (UC) and demolished UC 132 to 46 in the second round of the playoffs. After going undefeated for two rounds, SB faced its final competition, Troy High. SB won the first round against Troy 146 to 100. Unfortunately, SB lost the second round, and therefore continued onto a third game to determine the first place winner. During the final round, SB was at one point losing 18 to 60. However, SB was able to tie up the game 60 to 60 at the half!
All you competitors out there know how difficult it is to rise from a fall, so imagine the strength of the SB members when they won the final game against Troy 136-74. Eddie exclaimed, “We beat them after we regained our momentum and rhythm of buzzing.” Jason Jong believed it was the emotional aspect that accounted for their win. He stated, “Mrs. Mynster was telling us how every year, AHS would get frustrated when losing. We seemed far more light-hearted this year. Troy seemed frustrated, and we used that against them. It was this mentality that brought us to victory!” It is this mentality that will lead them to do well at Nationals, too! Congratulations! AHS wishes SB the best of luck at Nationals!
