What to do with Water Bottles

Well you’re done with your jog, finished your water bottle, and now what are you going to do with that empty bottle? You can always to choose to throw in the trashcan, but that would be a waste and cause even more problems for the environment. In the 2002 alone 15 million water bottles were sold; now just imagine all those empty bottles going into a landfill. The smarter options would be to recycle or reuse them. Part of reusing them is finding new purposes for them such as:


Ice Packs – When finished with a water bottle, wash it, let it dry, then fill it with a quarter of water. Let the water freeze, then when you need to cool drinks down fast to take out, you can pour water/juice/soda into the bottle and enjoy

Plastic Butterfly – Trace a butterfly out of cardboard, and slightly bend it’s wing, then attach cut out plastic from the water bottle to create arches that flab. Then you will be able to color it anything you want with paint

Water balloon filler- Hasn’t it always been a pain to fill up water balloons? Well a water bottle can fix that problem. All you need to do is cut off the bottom of the bottle and take of the lid. Then you can just attach the water bottle to the tip of the balloon and pour water in from the cut off part.

Plant Starter – Cut off the bottom of the bottle then fill it with soil, seed and water, then put it in a warm place and wait for the seeds to grow. When it grows too large, transfer it to a larger pot or a garden.

Decorative Containers – Cut off the top of a water bottle, keep the bottom, and decorate it with paint or fabric. Fill it with pencils, pens, jewelry, candy, etc.

Make a Bank – Have no place to put that loose change, or too lazy to but a piggy bank? Well, if you just happen to have a water bottle around all you need to do is cut a slit of the cap of the water bottle, you then have yourself a bank! You can also choose to decorate it with fabric or paint.

Make a Bird House – Cut little squares out of the bottle’s sides. Cover or paint the cover of the bottle then hang it on a tree braches for birds to enjoy.
