    Arcadia Home Invasion
    By: Justin Park

Over the past month, many people were robbed of their precious items including money and even wedding rings. Most of the people know that Arcadia was declared one of the best places to raise a kid, but now, even Arcadia's safe, secluded bubble is being penetrated by the fiscal crisis. Events like Arcadia's police never anticipated are being carried out by armed criminals and even unarmed young adults.

The act of robbery perpetrated on Sunday, November 29, could have proved more fatal than what had really occurred. An armed group of larcenists confronted a man with a gun on his own driveway; the man had no choice but to back into his home where his 9-year old son and wife were bound by the criminals. The man was then choked by the convicts and was obligated to give them all his valuable possessions. The convicts were also said to have said that if the family informed the police about this incident, that they would then return to harm or kill them.

A similar act of robbery was carried out Wednesday, November 25, an elderly couple living in a house residing on the 300 block of West Duarte Rd. were assaulted and robbed of their wedding rings and wallet. At 7:30 p.m. an elderly man was unloading his car of groceries when attacked by robbers who looked like male teenagers with a medium build wearing dark clothing. The elderly man was punched multiple times in the face and was stripped of his wallet containing about $1000. When his wife ran out hearing the vociferous acts being taken place outside, she was too, attacked, being shoved to the ground and robbed her wedding ring. The robbers had attempted to restrict them with plastic zip ties, apparently, they were too small therefore, the robbers fled having nothing else to do.

These acts of violence however shocking, cannot, and do not relate to the undertakings in other cities such as Los Angeles. Many already know that Arcadia was labeled one of the safest communities, with a majority of injuries being mostly accidents, less rates of poverty, and a low percentage of homeless people, Arcadia is isolated in its own safe environment. Because of the larger numbers of financially stable persons dropping, the corruption of stealing, thieving, burglary, and robbery, have all crept on tip-toes inside our walls, as they are everywhere in many so-called safe communities. Now is the time all residents of Arcadia should watch for these aspects of corruption. This is the major point of whether this community stays the 'best place to raise a child' or not, because, if it doesn't, it isn't the 'best place' any longer is it.

Over the past month, many people were robbed of their precious items including money and even wedding rings. Most of the people know that Arcadia was declared one of the best places to raise a kid [children], [;] but now, even Arcadia's safe, secluded bubble is being penetrated by the fiscal crisis. Events like [Crimes that] Arcadia's police never anticipated are being carried out by armed criminals and even unarmed young adults.

The act of robbery perpetrated on Sunday, November [Nov.] 29, could have proved more fatal than what had really occurred. An armed group of larcenists confronted a man with a gun on his own driveway; the man had no choice but to back into his home where his 9-year old son and wife were bound by the criminals. The man was then choked by the convicts and was obligated to give them all his valuable possessions. [The convicts were also said to have threatened to kill the family if the police was informed.]

A similar act of robbery was carried out Wednesday, November [Nov.] 25, [insert "when"] an elderly couple living in a house residing [delete "in a house residing"---they' re living in a house?! NO WAY!!!! LOLOL i'm just being a jerk Justin.] on the 300 block of West Duarte Rd. were assaulted and robbed of their wedding rings and wallet. At 7:30 p.m. an elderly man was unloading his car of groceries [the groceries from his car] when [insert "he was"] attacked by robbers who looked like [described to be] male teenagers with a medium build [medium builds] wearing dark clothing. The elderly man was punched multiple times in the face and was stripped of his wallet containing about $1000. When his wife ran out hearing the vociferous acts being taken place [taking place] outside, she was too, attacked, being shoved to the ground and robbed her wedding ring. [she, too, was attacked, shoved to the ground, and robbed of her wedding ring.] The robbers had attempted to restrict them with plastic zip ties, apparently, they were too small therefore, the robbers fled having nothing else to do. [run on]

These acts of violence [insert comma] however shocking, cannot, [delete comma] and do not relate to the undertakings in other cities such as Los Angeles. Many already know that Arcadia was labeled one of the safest communities, with a majority of injuries being mostly accidents [accidental---you don't need to say "mostly" because you already specified that this is the "majority"], less [low] rates of poverty, and a low percentage of homeless people, Arcadia is isolated in its own safe environment. [delete] Because of the larger numbers of financially stable persons dropping, the corruption of stealing, thieving, burglary, and robbery, have all crept on tip-toes inside our walls, as they are everywhere in many so-called safe communities. Now is the time all residents of Arcadia should watch for these aspects of corruption. This is the major point of whether this community stays the 'best place to raise a child' or not, because, if it doesn't, it isn't the 'best place' any longer is it. [the whole article was pretty interesting, but the conclusion is sort of weak and repetitive and I think the last sentence is a question.]

Most of the people know that Arcadia was declared one of the best places to raise children; but now, even Arcadia's safe, secluded bubble is being penetrated by the fiscal crisis. Crimes that Arcadia's police never anticipated are being carried out by armed criminals and even unarmed young adults. "I never expected events like these to happen in Arcadia, but now, I realize that we should stay on watch all the time despite our so-called safe community." mentioned freshman Courtney Hang.

The act of robbery perpetrated on Sunday, Nov. 29, could have proved more fatal than what had really occurred. An armed group of larcenists confronted a man with a gun on his own driveway; the man had no choice but to back into his home where his 9-year old son and wife were bound by the criminals. These acts of violence, however shocking, cannot and do not relate to the undertakings in other cities such as Los Angeles. "It's amazing how so many thefts could occur in such a small period of time." said freshman Leslie Ho. Many already know that Arcadia was labeled one of the safest communities, with a majority of injuries being accidental, low rates of poverty, and a low percentage of homeless people.
