Nancy Pulciano has a huge passion for fashion. Her love of fashion took over her life when she was about for and she has been working at it ever since. She remembers “dressing up [her] Barbies in crazy outfits,” and “[dressing] up her cat in doll clothing and [doing] a mini animal fashion show.”
Nancy’s goal as far as fashion is to “run the West Coast with a kick back Californian urban style.” Although she has not been an intern for fashion companies yet, she plans on getting on internship at Billabong or Stussy. During these internships, she will be helping out the design team. As of now, she is getting in contact with a few screen printing companies and is trading art for shirts being made for her.
Nancy is also working on getting a company up and running and is planning to do so in a few months. Those few months are set aside to actually be able to put the time and money in needed to make this work and for meeting up with people to cut deals on production. There is no set name on the company yet, but definitely keep your eyes and ears open.
Not only is Nancy interested in fashion, she also is an amazing artist. She is in Art Honors at AHS and loves it. In this class, you can do whatever you want, but you have to turn in at least fifteen pieces of art per semester. There are no boundaries on how something should look, as long as it doesn’t look like a two-year-old drew it. Nancy said that they are not given any category to work with so the hardest part of the class is trying to out what to draw. Nancy plans on going to either UC Davis or Cal State Long Beach, majoring in visual communications, “graphic design with a business edge.”
Nancy also plays on our Water Polo team but was unable to participate this season due to a shoulder injury that occurred over the summer while at Junior Olympics. Even though she had surgery last week, causing her to miss swim season, she is still planning on going back to club this summer.
Although Nancy has a lot on her plate, she still has time in her busy schedule to live somewhat like a regular teenager. She, like everyone else, put her priorities first. She figures this out by telling herself “you decide, work for something and the fun will come, but you decide.” She has missed many birthday parties in the past, but she has gone to some.
Nancy Pulciano is an all-around girl who has a passion for fashion, art, sports and, most of all, organizing her hectic life.
