    As children, many of us took part in the games Would you Rather, Madlibs, or even just asked each other questions like, “If you could eat one food for an entire year, what would it be?” Then, most of us would probably answer ice cream, spaghetti and meatballs, macaroni and cheese, or any other favorite foods. But because we are more educated now, what would you say if I asked you “If you could eat the same five foods on a daily basis, what would they be?”
    With no surprise, dark green leafy vegetables are definitely one of the most important foods to eat regularly. Whether we like them or not, vegetables like spinach, kale, and collard greens provide calcium as well as vitamins A, B and C. According to http://shine.yahoo.com, “medical experts call them one of nature’s miracle foods.” By eating at least one cup of greens a day it not only lowers your risk of cancer, but also could prevent diabetes and high blood pressure.
    The next food you would be able to answer is none other than nuts and seeds. Though some nuts are high in fat, almonds, sesame seeds, and walnuts are recommended in your daily diet. Because these nuts are high in natural fiber, they can slow down your digestive process, keeping unwanted snacks out of your system. In addition, almonds are a great source of vitamin E, while sesame seeds provide calcium and walnuts contain omega-3 fats.     However, there are also many whole grain breads, pastas, and rice that should also be considered in our daily diets. Although some nutritional value is lost in the refining process, studies show that whole grains can flatten your belly by reducing fat storage in your lower abdominal region.
    The next considerable fourth food is in the section of the dairy products, and no, it does not start with an ‘i’ and end in an ‘m’. It is definitely not two words, and is part of this famous place near Lollicup called ____land. Well, if you haven’t guessed it by now, the answer is yogurt. However, you must choose a yogurt that is rich in vitamin D and make sure that the label lists “active cultures” to make sure you are getting healthy ingredients.
    Last but not least, the last item on your list is tea. By drinking black or green tea, they contain antioxidants and sources of flavonoids, which may prevent cancer and reduce inflammation. However, green tea holds more nutritional values and is able to boosts metabolism as well as aid in weight loss.
    At the next meal, put these daily healthful foods into your diet and remember the next time someone asks you, “If you could eat one food for an entire year, what would it be?” the answer is definitely dark green leafy vegetables.
