    Pep Song Empty Pep Song

Whilst Colorguard and Percussion wrapped up their competition season by performing their competition routine to their friends and family, Pep Song (Song) was busy traveling to Downey High School in Downey, California to compete in their first competition on May 8.
Song performed to a Lady Gaga mash-up that included parts choreographed by each member; sophomore Tiffany Hang choreographing portions of “Just Dance,” sophomore leader Kelly Mock with “Telephone,” sophomore Bella Muljana “Starstrukk,” sophomore Sandra Chan “Dirty, Rich, Beautiful,” sophomore Tina Tzeng “Pokerface,” sophomore Becca Lu “Bad Romance,” freshman Joanna Whang “Paparazzi,” and freshman Carol Zhang choreographing the kickline and small bits of “Paparazzi” and “Love Game.”
Their routine, bright smiles, and great performance quality granted the eight member team first place, a prize for their continuous hard work throughout the year. “We were pretty confident and not to mention ecstatic in our placement.” sophomore Becca Lu said, “All our competitors were all-star teams, and were more experienced than we were because they were from competitive dance teams with professional choreographers, while we choreographed our own routine. Plus, most of their dancers had more dance background than we did.” Freshman Joanna Whang agreed, “I was really excited when they called out our name for first place. We didn’t know what to expect, because most of our competitors had already competed in more than one SHARP International (SHARP) competition.” It just goes to show that hard work really does pay off.
The SHARP competition also held individual events including best toe touch, best high kicks, best turns, and best leaps. And our girls didn’t disappoint. Sophomore Bella Muljana won second in the “best turns” category, sophomore Tina Tzeng won first in toe touches and third in drill downs, freshman Carol Zhang won second in drill downs, and sophomore Becca Lu won second in high kicks.
Song also performed their competition routine on May 21, during the Spring School Assembly. With great energy and poise, they danced their hearts out, performing their Lady Gaga competition mash-up for the final time, wrapping up their competitive season.
