    -2010 Movies

Aw New Years, a time for fresh beginnings, new resolutions, and new movies. With last year’s recession critics thought the movie industry would be in a slump, but they should have thought again. With people getting more and more stressed they started relaying on movies to relax them. Some of last year’s hits were Star Trek and 2012, but what will hit our theaters this year? These are complied list of the most anticipated movies of the year:

Book of Eli: Superstar actor, director, and screenwriter Denzel Washington stars as Eli in the post-apocalyptic thriller movie, Book of Eli. The story’s protagonist Eli is an isolated man that lives his life in 2043 protecting a book that holds the key to saving mankind. Eli used to live in a once humble countryside, but all it took was one traumatic event to transform it to a desert wasteland where the movie takes place in. The movie is to be released on Jan.15, 2010.

The Spy Next Door: Although not as commercially advertised as other movies, it does feature many prominent film stars. Action movie star Jackie Chan stars as Bob Ho with supporting actors George Lopez and Billy Ray Cyrus. The plot revolves around Bob protecting his girlfriend’s children from Russian Spies after they illegally download a secret formula. It is to be released on Jan. 15, 2010.

Shrek Forever After: The last installment of the popular Shrek movie saga is to be released on Feb. 23, 2009 and it will feature the main cast with a variety of new characters. This is a classic story of being careful of what you wish for. The story starts with Shrek as a new family man who signs autographs instead of scaring people. Sometimes he just wants to go back to the good old ogre days. He gets thrown into an alternate universe where everyone he knows is different. His wife is wanted, Donkey doesn’t know him, and Puss in Boots is a obese car. The movie is going to be released in May 21, 2010.

Iron Man 2: With 2008’s unexpected gross of $ 585, 133, 28, it made Iron Man one of the biggest opening weekends of the year. Although some of the cast are gone, Iron Man is still anticipated to be a great movie. In the ending of the last movie, Tony Stark reveals that he is actually Iron Man, which causes most of troubles in this movie. The government and public are pressuring him to give out his machinery to the military. It is going to be released on May 7, 2010.

Toy Story 3: It’s been over a decade since the last chapter was released, but that hasn’t stopped people from wanting to watch another sequel especially since its in IMAX 3D this time. Andy’s all grown up now and going to college. He must choose what to do with his toys; he ends up deciding to leave them in the basement, but all goes wrong when their accidentally thrown out. They end up in a day-care center where there are overly active children playing with him. The toys try and escape, but it turns out a little problematic. It’s scheduled for release on June 18, 2010.

Eclipse: Twilight has become an international success even to the point of matching Harry Potter, which is reason why after the first movie Summit Entertainment approved all three other movies to get produced. This is the first movie in the saga to be released in IMAX. It is scheduled on June 30, 2010 and everyone will return except Rachelle Lefevre who plays Victoria. Victoria will now be played by Bryce Howard.

Salt: This action flick stars Angelina Jolie as Evelyn Salt. The story revolves around Jolie's character being accused of being a Russian sleeper spy and has to clear her name while escaping the CIA. Don’t worry, this accused Russian spy isn’t after Bob Ho or his little children, she’s after the leader of the free world, the United States President. It is scheduled to release on July 23, 2010

The Social Network: You might be wondering how the creation of Facebook could make a movie, well surprisingly enough Jesse Eisenberg, Justin Timberlake, Colombia Picture, and many more have all signed up to make the movie. It is a drama-comedy that revolves around the creation of the most used social networking site. It will be released on Oct. 15, 2010.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, Part I: The first division of the popular Harry Potter series will hit the theaters in November 19, 2010. The main plot involves Harry, Ron, and Hermione dropping out of Hogwarts to destroy the secret to Voldemort's power, the Horcruxes. Since the original book was too long they decided to cut it in half, the 2nd installment will be released next year.
    .
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader: For some reason these kids can’t stop accidentally getting into Narnia, first a wardrobe, then a train, now they fall into a painting. Once they get there their friend Caspian X joins them on a mysterious mission to Long Island. This movie features two of the Pevensie siblings from the first movie. It comes out Dec. 9, 2010.

Last year’s movie industry ended with a big bang with the released of Avatar and Sherlock Homes but what movies this year can top lasts? Whatever happens this year looks like a fresh start to revolution movies.
